Our Organizational Structure
The DC Federation of Democratic Women (DCFDW) was established in 1972 as a means of preparing and training women candidates for elective office and to assure equitable representation of women at all levels of the Democratic Party. The DCFDW is the DC state affiliate of the National Federation of Democratic Women (NFDW) which has chapters in 35 states and Puerto Rico.
The NFDW is the official women’s affiliate organization of the Democratic Party and has three seats on the Democratic National Committee (DNC). The DCFDW is the official affiliate women’s organization of the D.C. Democratic State Committee and has three seats on the DCSDC, the D.C. Democratic governing body. In addition, a number of DCFDW members have been elected to the DC Democratic State Committee (DCDSC). At-Large Council Member Anita Bonds is chair of the DCDSC.
