Programs and Committees

PROGRAMS-

DC Federation’s Annual Convention –
The D.C. Federation holds its annual convention in March.  It features a business meeting, guest speakers, and briefings from local political leaders.

Women in Blue Lobby Day –
Each year, usually in April, the DCFDW drafts its legislative priorities for women and families and holds the Women in Blue to lobby members of the Council and advocate for legislation and funding in keeping with our Legislative Agenda.

Annual National Convention –
The National Conference highlights workshops, national speakers, authors, election of officers, business meetings and resolutions that are forwarded to national political leaders and DNC.

Trailblazer Awards and Luncheon
Annually, the Federation honors women for their outstanding contributions, advocacy for women and service to the Democratic Party.

COMMITTEES –

Legislation and Advocacy
Provides members with information and tools to advocate for themselves, their communities, and the DCFDW.  The Committee develops the Annual Legislative Agenda, organizes and implements the Women in Blue Lobby Day.  It also provides local input to the National Legislative Agenda.

Program
Provides high-value educational workshops and election activities leading to greater personal and political empowerment, participation in local elections, and in the Democratic Party.

Membership
Develops strategies to attract new members, and retain current members by creating and maintaining a compelling membership experience and works with other committees to keep the members’ priorities in the forefront of their planning.

Budget and Fund Raising
Formulates a budget to support the annual program plan, develops and implements fundraising strategies and programs.

Bylaws
Reviews the DCFDW Bylaws annually to assure they are in keeping with NFDW’s Bylaws and are updated in accordance with approval by the body.
